We offer consulting for:
The spectrum of events is as varied as the needs in each chapter. Outlined below is a brief overview of the major categories which most chapters and their members find helpful:
Cross-Cultural Education
Having a forum to share experiences and learn more information about the host culture helps reduce the stress of living overseas. Popular topics include: language, customs and culture, worldview, repatriation, reentry, and international living.
Third-Culture Kids (TCK)
TCK refers to any child being raised in a culture that is different from the parent's native culture. While TCK's tend to be more mature and have a broader worldview that their counterparts in the United States, they also struggle with greater feelings of isolation. This comes from being the "foreigner" in the host culture where they are growing up and being disconnected from the culture of their parents. Special care must be given to help them adjust. Often times the connection or culture of the TCK is in the company of other TCK's. Summer camps are often the highlight of the year for TCK's.
Staying in Touch
Living long-distance from extended family can result in additional stress from family back in the United States. Developing a strategy for staying connected and helping to educate family at home about your life abroad helps to minimize tension.
